Why Tarot

Usually I'm not really inclined into spiritual practices like Tarot. I find the randomness that goes into it too fallible, and, even if I'd take into consideration all there is about energies and intuition, at my core I'm too skeptical, and I don't think this will ever change.

Anyways, I treat it in the same way I treat astrology, just more rigorously: it is a fun way to engage with different ways of looking at the world and yourself. The underlying idea that we're all connected to planets, and, similarly, that the cards we pick reflect a situation in front of us, or that this is a way for the universe to send you a message is quite beautiful.

However, this baseline skepticism allows me to be less stressed about being good at it. I do have troubles with extrapolating the bigger picture, especially if the prompt is quite narrow or too general, and I do not know the all the symbolism that there is, hence I'm writing this)

I view it as an exercise and recognizing symbols and patterns, using your own your knowledge, imagination and "intuition" to navigate the cards. I did not go into this yet, but there is a reason Carl Jung approved of Tarot cards as a psychotherapy tool.

Secondly, it's useful for the cultural references. For instance, the first scene from Cleo from 9 to 5 uses them. Given that I thought this practice aligns with David Lynch to me, for some reason, I looked it up, and Tarot cards were present in an episode from Twin Peaks, as noted here :3

Last but not least, and maybe most importantly for me, Tarot is nice to practice with friends. This is how I stumbled upon it, took it more seriously and how I hope to evolve. Reading sessions have always been an interesting shared activity; it's lovely to see how a more experienced person approaches it, and it's also helpful and fun to learn along with someone. #ilovemyfriends
