Ten of Swords
Status: #seedling
#tarot #swords #red #sun #death
Description & Details
- A (dead) man lying face down, with ten swords on his back. He wears a red drape, suggesting him passing with dignity.
- Night/dark sky, but the sun is rising, suggested new beginnings, hope.
- Calm sea in the background - sense of calm, peace.
Upright Meaning
- Painful and unexpected yet inevitable ending.
- Grieving the loss of what's ending.
- Victim of a person's deceit or betrayal (feeling stabbed in the back).
- Let go and accept the situation, even if it's painful. Allow change, even if it's painful, it will lead to renewal.
- Exhaustion
- "Pick yourself up off the ground and reflect upon what happened to you and why, and what you can learn from the experience. When you do this, the hurt and pain will fade, and you will soon see why all of this needed to happen so that you can evolve into your fullest potential."
- "Poor me" mentality, where you feel like there is anything you can do. Like the Death card, the end of something means a new beginning.
My interpretation in my own readings about myself: swords are my own thoughts (given that they are a mental symbol), and this is weighing me down:
The story as it unfolds from the ace to the ten is one where an untrained individual uses this weapon for faulty reasons - makes many mistakes, and then spends an entire lifetime attempting to run away from the power that he misused.
Reversed Meaning
- Resisting the inevitable end
- With that also comes the release that things can only get better and the cycle can start anew.
- An old situation that ended badly and you're still carrying the wounds from it.
